On the second Thursday of every month, the library hosts a book discussion in the Parlor in Bluffton at 6:30. The next book up for discussion on May 9, 2019 is The Space between Us by Thrity Umrigar. “Set in modern-day India, it is the story of two compelling and achingly real women: Sera Dubash, an upper-middle-class Parsi housewife whose opulent surroundings hide the shame and disappointment of an abusive marriage, and Bhima, a stoic illiterate hardened by a life of despair and loss, who has worked in the Dubash household for more than twenty years.” (taken from the jacket) Come to the front desk and check out a copy of this intriguing book, then meet with us as we discuss the intertwined lives of these women, poverty and wealth, Indian culture, and how alike we all really are.
