When Maddie and Logan were 10 years old they were best friends. In fact, Maddie was Logan’s only friend. It can be hard to make friends when you are the son of the President of the United States. Lucky for Logan, Maddie’s dad was the head of his father’s Secret Service security detail and so the two friends got to be together a lot. All of that changed after Maddie and Logan got caught in the middle of a kidnapping attempt. Maddie’s father was injured in the line of duty and could no longer act as head of security. Maddie and her father moved to the middle of the Alaskan wilderness where there are no roads, no internet, no cell service, and no neighbors for at least 20 miles in any direction. She was given stationary by Logan’s mom and encouraged to write him letters, which she did. She wrote Logan a letter every week for two years before she finally resigned herself to the fact that he was never going to write back.
Six years later Maddie has become very used to being the only teenager in a 20 mile radius. So when her father shocks her with the news that they are going to have a guest and that guest is none other than Logan, she isn’t exactly thrilled. How are you supposed to act around someone who you thought was your best friend, but couldn’t be bothered to write back to you once in six years? Before she can even begin to deal with all of the anger and hurt that he caused she is forced to brave the Alaskan wilderness to save the life of her former best friend from a powerful man bent on revenge. What follows is an exciting action adventure story set in the beautiful but dangerous Alaskan wilderness. I highly recommend this book if you like stories with plenty of twists and turns, many which I did not see coming, along with some romance and humor thrown in for good measure.
