Murder, Magic and What We Wore, is a mildly suspenseful novel with a bit of comedy set in the Regency Era…No romance here, no sir. It’s a fast jaunt with a murder, intrigue, and a bit of comedy thrown in. Annis Whitworth finds out she, and her Aunt are destitute. After her father is mysteriously murdered. With the help of her maid, Millie, she embarks on an adventure to find out what happened to her father, save her family from ruin, and become a spy.
I enjoyed this book. It’s fast paced, takes place during the Regency Era, where manners and class were everything, and any slip up could mean ruin. I admit to going down a few rabbit holes such as what is a wafer, which caused me to look into how to write a Regency style letter and so on. It’s full of fun tidbits that may lead you to a new hobby. It’s fun, fast, does focus on a few Regency clichés, but in my opinion it only makes it that much better.
Enjoy this book with some good tea and classical music.
