Never Land, Lost Boys, Tinkerbell and the boy that never grows up, Peter Pan. You might know the story from your childhood but this version of the story tests what you know about the beloved children’s tale and offers insight into how Peter and the lost boys came to be in Never land.
Peter and the Starcatchers is an origin story starting with a group of orphan boys being loaded onto a ship named the Never Land. Along with the boys there is a girl named Molly aboard the ship with a mysterious trunk that makes all who touch it feel light and happy and offers abilities that are not entirely human. One of the orphan boys is Peter and he and Molly find themselves joining forces to protect the trunk from pirates who have set out to steal it and use its powers for themselves. Peter and Molly end up being helped by dolphins, trapped on an island with locals who want to feed them to a hungry crocodile and fighting the pirates along side mermaids. This book is an adventure story with fantasy elements, think stardust and flying children, that captures readers attention from start to finish. Those who are familiar with the story of Peter pan will be excited to see where the adventure started and to follow Peter as he takes on Captain Hook for the first time.
I would recommend this book to anyone that likes adventure fantasy stories or fairy tale retellings.
