“Again, But Better“ is a book that you can download as an audiobook on our trusty mobile reading app called “Libby” (the new Overdrive).
“Again, But Better” is a young adult book about a girl named Shane who is a med-school student just trying to find herself and her happy place in life. She has always wanted to be a writer, but because of how her father grew up, her parents refused to help her pay for school if she didn’t go to become a doctor. To get past this problem, she makes up a brochure for a medical program abroad in England to show her parents when she is really going for the English program. It is while in England that she finds her passion in life, makes friends, and juggles the reality of love as someone who has never even held a boy’s hand.
I absolutely loved the plot structure of this story. What I specifically adore about the structure of the plot is how the story draws out with fun little moments, then goes downhill fast. Just when you think that all is done the climax draws you back in and forces you to rethink how it is all really going to end. I enjoyed the characters a lot, as well as the life lesson that is thrown in there without being too obvious as to what it is you should be taking away from this book. It touches the heart of every college student who has lived a sheltered life.
I recommend this book to anyone who is about to go to college, currently in college, or had just graduated from college and want to look back on the days when life’s biggest question was, “What do I want to do for the rest of my life?”
