Hygge? Is that higgy or huggy? Nope, it’s pronounced hyoo-guh and it’s the Danish concept of being cozy and comfortable for a sense of wellbeing. The Danes have some lousy winter weather, but instead of fighting it, they’ve found ways to cope. Staying in by candlelight with a favorite book, movie, game, or puzzle while enjoying a warm drink is hygge. Hygge is good by yourself or shared with family or friends. The library is here to help you find your hygge this winter. We have put together a To-Go Kit that can be picked up at the Main Library (Bluffton) and the Ossian Branch, starting Jan. 11 (available while supplies last).
Each Hygge kit will include a mug with a hot chocolate and tea mix, a small candle, a hygge word search puzzle, and a hand-crocheted coaster for that mug. Before you leave the library, check out a book, movie, or one of many jigsaw puzzles with a CD of background music.
