New Books at the Main Library

Kate's Kart

This summer the library donated 72 books to Kate’s Kart! The Adult Summer Reading Program participants had the option of donating a book to Kate’s Kart. We have made this an option for several years.   It motivates patrons who don’t want to add a book to their personal collection to still participate in the reading program.  Instead they can choose to donate their prize book to Kate’s Kart—Win! Win!  If you are unfamiliar with Kate’s Kart, it is a wonderful charity that delivers books to children in local area hospitals.

I recently had the experience of being involved with Kate’s Kart on the receiving end.  My 4 year old granddaughter was taken to the ER at Lutheran Hospital with a severe allergic reaction. After receiving treatment, she needed to remain at the Hospital for several hours for observation. It was a very pleasant surprise with the nurse arrived with the Kate’s Kart. It is beautifully decorated, bright and cheerful and filled with a wonderful selection of books to choose from. Thanks to Kate’s Kart, my granddaughters’ hospital experience ended on a very positive note!!
