1,000 Books Before Kindergarten @ Ossian Branch Library

Posted on July 11, 2013 at 5:07 PM

The Ossian Branch is excited to have our first child successfully complete the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program! Last week Kaden Grau and his parents came to have their picture taken and to collect the final prize. (We know that Bluffton has had several children complete, but this is our first so we wanted to commemorate the event.) Congratulations to Kaden and his parents on this amazing accomplishment! The photo is now hanging in the Children's Area along with frames for other children to join him. (After the frames are full, the oldest photo will be replaced.) Parents of young children should ask at the desk about how to participate in this wonderful program that helps children prepare to read on their own.

I’m Susan Dailey, the manager of the Ossian Branch Library. I’ve worked at the library since I was in high school. (In fact, I received my first library paycheck before my driver’s license!) I’m also a “minor celebrity” to the kids in Ossian because I read books to the preschoolers and kindergartners each month. I've written two books for librarians with ideas for storytime and have taught workshops on the topic around the country.
